| Transparent Bitmaps from Corel Draw 12 and Photo-Paint 12 |

I use Corel Draw 12 and Photo-Paint 12 to work with existing bitmaps on
occasion. When I want to put a transparent bitmap on a web page to appear
on top of a fancy web page background, it appears as though Corel makes an
unwanted border around the image, and in some cases, the resulting image is
not sharp but a bit fuzzy. If the starting bitmap contains white around
it's edges, the export filter pixelates the edge of the bitmap, thus making
the resulting quality too poor for use.
Does anyone know when Corel is going to improve their software to create
sharp, non-fuzzy transparent images. The PNG and GIF export filters might
be the problem.
Is there any Windows-based software that does a better job of creating the
desired transparent image?
Have things gotten better in Corel X3 or X4 ?
Please advise...

David,
First, you'll never get good results with GIF due to limitations in the file
format. It only supports a single color of transparency so there will always
be a "halo" around images. This is not a Corel problem, it is a GIF
problem.
The PNG export filter in PHOTO-PAINT works well. So without knowing the
process you are using to create PNGs, it is hard to say why you aren't happy
with the results.
