Hi all,
Error message reads "cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service
because the program to be upgraded may be mising or the update patch may
update a different version of the program". My X3 version is 13.0.0.739.
How
can I determine the build version of the Patch?

13.0.0.739 is the latest version so it wont 'update' itself to that
version. That's why you get the message.

Stoney,
Microsoft has an update to it's Windows installer that you can install
from their website:

The update solved several installation problems that I was experiencing.
It works with several versions of Windows including Windows XP Prof.
SP-2 that's installed on my PC.
