Corel Draw 4 - Help Needed

Corel Draw 4 - Help Needed
Fri, 9 Mar 2007 14:52:50 -0800
I have been using Corel Draw 4 on an OLD computer (NEC with windows 3.1). I
would like to install the Corel Draw 4 on my Dell/Windows XP computer. OK,
stop laughing. I know 3.1 is OLD. Will the Corel Draw 4 install and work on
the Windows XP system? THANK YOU for your replies. Lar.

I have heard of people using v5, but I honestly don't know. For sure, you'd
have to put it into some sort of compatibility mode... but didn't that
version use funky proprietary fonts? You can always try and see, but
obviously no guarantess. I tried to install v7 on an XP box and had problems
with the install - it wasn't worth my time to try and figure out what was
happening w/it as I was also installing versions 8 thru 13.

I have version 3 installed on my Windows XP computer. I used it to make
minor changes to a business card I had put together when I was using version
3 with Windows 3.1. I had no problems, except that, when I tried to save it
as a .gif file (using Export...), I could not do it because I got the error
message "The rasterizer could not be loaded", but I was able to do it
on my
brother's computer which has Draw 3 on Windows 98. I am guessing that it is
because XP is no longer DOS-based and the rasterizer is either changed or no
longer existent or whatever.

It's been years, but, as I remember, I had problems with the install
sequence.
The cure was to find each module, and the inf &/or install file for it. I
ended up running each individually,
rather than allowing the main installer to do the work.
