I know this is a beginner's mistake, but I just wanted to verify that you saved
your
changes before exiting Options.

Well, there is no "save changes" button in options

Ah, but there is. :)
Ctrl+N to open a New document, Ctrl+J for Options, make your changes, then click
Documents. There is a box marked "Save as default..."
While you're at it, go ahead and click Workspace, and save your new changes to a
file.
When you're done, just close the document w/out saving.
Now, don't expect that to change documents already in existence - this will only
effect
new documents. The way to get your old documents to behave themselves under the
new
changes is to Import them into a New, blank document and save them over the old
name.
Let us know how it goes,
