Corel 8 and Vista

Corel 8 and Vista
Thu, 6 Dec 2007 22:44:48 -0000
Ive used Corel draw 8 for a long time and, touch wood, had no problems up to
and including Windows XP home. I have Vista Home Premium on my new laptop
and I loaded Draw 8 without any problems.
However if I create a new graphic it will not 'save as' and the program
freezes when I try. Strangely if I open a file that I previously created on
the PC (XP Home) then I can edit and alter and add to it without problem
provided I only save it back to the original file. If I try to 'save as' it
freezes again.
I am not realy computer literate and I have gotten used to Draw 8 so any
help would be muchly appreciated.
                            thanx.....liam.....

Another user finding the same problem though using a different app
traced the problem to their antivirus software.

Good call, lemoto.

Liam, there are known issues between CorelDraw (versions 6-9) and
Symantec softwares, particularly Norton AntiVirus and Norton System
Security.

If you're using Norton Anything, you're best to completely uninstall it.
Avast! makes a great (and free) AntiVirus software, ZoneAlarm still has
their award-winning free software firewall, and Spyware Blaster makes a
wonderful resident spyware blocker. All together, they take up less room
and fewer resources than the equivalent single program made by Symantec.

....of course, if you're not using them, I've just blathered on for five
minutes for no good reason... :)

I use AVG and would recommend it.
Good luck with it.
