Designer upgrade advice Wanted.
I currently use both Designer 8 because of its intuitive interface, and
Designer 10 because of a few unique features like "virtual segment
delete".
I tried Designer 11 but found insufficient improvements to justify
upgrading, and am now considering Designer 12.
The $390 upgrade price for Designer 12 is pretty steep for a casual, home
user of the product like me. I'm also concerned that there no longer seems
to be an active Designer user group (e.g. infrequent posts to this forum).
Also, it's hard to tell that Designer is a very important product for Corel
compared to, say Draw.
It would be useful to know which features other users particularly like
about Version 12 and how Version 12 compares to similar technical drawing
software applications from other software makers.
Many thanks for your further comments,
Jim Gregory

Jim,
AFAIK there was no Designer 11 - it jumped straight from 10 to 12 to be
in line with the draw Suite version numbering.

I have never used earlier versions of Designer, but I used the current one
in conjunction with Draw, since it has some features that Draw does not have
such as the projected drawing modes, hatch fills and enhanced line styles.
Built-in area calculation for bezier curves is also great.
Yes - there is much in common with Draw - but I find that they complement
each other to an extent. I certainly hope Corel continues the product or
perhaps
combine Draw & Designer with all the features of both in the one package.
I agree that the price is steep - are you perhaps elegible for the education
version?
cheers
Bill
