Along the same lines, why must it be (true of Draw also) that when an
object (particularly ellipses, rectangles) is rotated, its bounding-box
handles remain vertical/horizontal? This means we can't stretch the
object along it's regular axes when it's rotated.
For you purposes, "cutting" is not the best way to accomplish your
end.
The ellipse edit ("shift>s") will swing the ellipse arc at will.
The
"edge" snap will allow you to place the lines you want very near what
would be the major axis node. Without those nodes, it's not exact, but
you can get very close anyway. Then edit the ellipse to snap to the ends
of the lines you just drew.

I don't fully understand what you're trying to accomplish, can you attach a
picture?

| Why are there no nodes on the major and minor axis? |

Hi,
I am a technical illustrator by profession and I am in the process of trying
the demo of Corel Designer 12.
I have been using Freehand V.9 up until now, and have been looking into
Isodraw (formerly produced by Itedo).
But I am impressed with the capabilities of Designer 12 since try it, but I
have discovered a major problem with ellipses:
When I need to cut an ellipse on its major axis there are no nodes for
snapping which makes it awkward for cutting, especially on a custom
projected axis.
I trace off complex drawings in my work, where I need to set custom axis.
The extrusion tool can help in some cases but not when complex shapes
involving ellipses need to be drawn and manipulated.
I hope I am missing how to do this so can anybody help?
Thanks

Hemmick,
If you convert your ellipse to curves in the arrange menu (before or after
rotating) 4 nodes on the major and minor axis will appear.

Cindy

I can't see any problem here. An ellipse retains its 4 snappable nodes
along its axes after rotation. Just draw a 2-point line across, holding
down the "n" (node snap key). And even that line is unnecessary for
what
Hemmick intended to draw. No need to "cut" the ellipse. Just use the
shape
tool to open the ellipse to an arc and drag the ends around until they snap
to the axial nodes
