| Print Layout - more |

In Printer Properties I have Paper set to A4, 210 x 297 mm. I have an
image 768 x 768 which I want to print as a DVD cover, size 112.5 x
112.5 mm. I can do i seconds in my usual way, with File > Print, set
Width & Height to those values, and choose Upper left of page. Print
Preview shows correctly.
But instead I decide that I'd continue my Print Layout familiarisation
by using that instead. So I close the previous Print dialog and use
File > Print Layout. This is the only image open. I drag it to the
empty layout area. But I get "This image will not fit on the paper
without scaling it. Do you wish to scale it?". My immediate reaction
is "Why? How can it be too large," but then I recall Spandex's
explanation a while ago about resolution.
So I check Image > Information and see that this file is described as:
Dimensions: 768 x 768 Pixels
10.667 x 10.667 Inches
Pixels Per Inch: 72.000
And in File > Preferences > Units > Default resolution I see it's set
to 72.00 Pixels/inch.
So
1) Is there no interaction between the Print settings and the Print
Layout settings?
2) Am I supposed to calculate the required Pixels/inch, change it,
then return to Print Layout to do the print?
That all seems so ponderous that I conclude I'm doing something
basically wrong?

OK, a few minutes later the possible solution occurred to me, but I'd
appreciate confirmation I'm now on the right lines please.
I had earlier been trying the approach of first making a template, but
didn't know how to get it the right size. (As it seems the answer to
Q1 above is No.) But I've now resized the image to 11.25 x 11.25 cm
and used that to make a template called Square-UpperLeft. Dragging the
original image to this now seems to work OK.
BTW, when I close Print Layout I get that message ""The current
template has changed..." about which I enquired in a separate post. I
haven't changed it, so I assume it's a PSP 8 bug.

How do you set the 768x768 pixels to 112.5 ? I expect you have used a Print
resalution of 166ppi.
Did you actually do that. If you did then the image infomation would read as
166 ppi not 72. somewhere you either went back a step or missed a step

If you had a Template for the CD cover all ready then placing that image
into it would automatically set the print resolution to fit the template.
But as there is not CD cover template Your going to have to make one. To do
that you need first to make the image the size you want it to print. You do
this by opening the resize dialogue If you uncheck "Resample" it will
not
alter the pixels size of the image. So then all you need do is enter 112.5
as the width and height in mm and note that the resolution has automatically
been calculated for you now Ok your way out. If you had entered a resolution
value instead the width and height would have been calculated.
Now if you open print layout and with print setup as A4. add the image Note
you can add two to the layout. Then save the template as CD Cover.Without
saving the image. You now have a template for making Cd covers.
at this point you can print it out But I think your sizes are a bit off. I
get 120mm as width & height not 112.5 you might want to correct that before
making templates and also it would be better at 200ppi so that's 945 pixel
wide and high.

You assume it but you haven't read the two replies to your
previous post which explain why its not a bug. Or perhaps
you have read them but are not convinced by them. In that
case perhaps you'd like to explain why.
