| A problem cause PSP to stop working ... error message |

I've been on Vista for about 10 months and have been using PSP 9 with it and
had no problems until just recently. It gives me this error ...
"PSP has stopped working. A problem has caused PSP to stop working. Windows
will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." And then
shuts down.
I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times. I even used the
"Zap.Jasc" program before installing it. Why would I get this error
message
now when it was working just fine previously? Any thoughts or suggestions?

You're getting it because something has changed on your computer
or you are doing different things in PSP than before. If you look
at yesterday's posts for a thread with the subject "Material
Palette Hangs PSP 9" you will see that the problem was caused
by a user-created resource file that was defe ctive in some way.
I'm not saying that's the problem in your case but it illustrates
the sort of thing that can happen. Only you are in a position to
try and guess what the problem is since none of us have been
watching you and your computer over your shoulder. A common
reason for problems is downloading corrupt or malformed fonts.
PSP is not very graceful about handling improperly defined fonts.
Did you just install a new font perhaps? Another reason is
software you install improperly overwriting newer versions of
DLLs with older versions. Have you installed any new software
recently? Yet another thing that can cause problems is a shortage
of disk space or an excess of temporary files. Have you cleaned
up temporary files and check available disk space? This is all
guesswork on my part of course since you've told me the equivalent
of "my car has stopped working" but left me (for very sensible
reasons :) without the ability see your car, or hear about what
led up to the problem with it, or to look at it, or to diagnose
the issue in any way.
