Thanks Suz, but I'm not sure how I'd be able to make Preset Shapes work
with images of different sizes and/or with customized panel sizes in
this script.
However, I finally came up with a workaround that provides a one pixel
rectangular border so that you actually get rectangular panels even if
there is lots of contiguous white stuff within the image. It may not be
the most elegant solution, but it seems to work :-)
