| renaming files with EXIF-Dates yyyymmdd_hhmmss-oldname.jpg |

Hi,
i am using Exifer to take a first look at my pictures and
to delete/rotate/rename before PSP'ing the pics...
Losless rotate / delete / first look can even be done with PSP(9).
I'd like to have a script that i can use in the PSP Browser
- mark new (...) pictures
- run script for these pics, renaming to yyyymmdd_hhmmss-oldname.jpg
in the same directory (or maybe copy the pics with new name
to: (c:\pics) \yyyy\mm\yyyymmdd_hhmmss-oldname.jpg
yyyymmdd_hhmmss: EXIF Date and time of exposure
Also something like
http://galupki.de/content/index.php?wiki=FotoGrafie&begriff=fotodownloader
(php script) - i don't know anything about Phyton/scripting with PSP, so i'd
like to have something that i can use as a template - or maybee a ready-to-run
-script...
thanx & greetings, Juergen

I don't see any option in a context menu to execute a script
against a selection of files in the PSP 9 Browser or to output
a list of selected file names. However, you can move or copy
selected files to a target folder. If you do this and then
process the files in this folder with your script that will
be the easy solution to your problem.

The script called EXIFCaptioning, which I posted to the thread
with subject "Scripting with EXIF information" on Monday of last
week will show you how to access EXIF information. Read the
comments in the script. You may additionally have a script called
DumpEXIFInfo with your version of PSP, which also shows how to
access EXIF information.
I don't think you can rename files with PSP since this is not a
command built into PSP. However, Python scripts can execute
Windows operating system commands if you include the os module.
You probably have a script called BrushWrangler that came with
PSP 9, which illustrates how to use the os commands in connection
with file names. More information can be found at the Python
web site http://www.python.org/.

on this topic is not going to be satisfactory. Ich bin ein

I found a script named PSP8_Dateispeicherorte_hinzufügen.PspScript
(to add PSP file/path locations to the registry)...

Hi Juergen
This script doesn't do exactly what your asking for, but it's close and I'm
sure could easily be adapted to what you want. I wrote it when I had a
folder full of several hundred pictures from three different digital
cameras, none of which had their clocks set correctly. You have to put both
script files into your Scripts-Trusted folder, open the browser and select
the images that you want to rename, then find and run the "Exif
Rename"
script. It pops up a dialog box asking you to enter the time offest to
apply. Positive or negative hours, minutes and seconds can be entered. If
you don't need to offset the time, just leave it as 0/0/0 and click OK. The
script will now open the batch script dialog. Click "Start" and it
will do
the renaming. You end up with files with a name of the format:
YYMMDDHHMMSS-OldName.jpg.
Note 1: This script will rename the files in place rather than creating a
copy.
Note 2: It's only a two digit year, so if you have pictures that span the
1999/2000 boundary, it won't work so well.
I hope this helps
Dave

Can you help me understand what exactly you mean by "select the
images you want to rename ... and run the ... script". I can't
see a way of running a script from the context menu (see the
attached screen capture), while highlighting files in the
browser and then running a script produces a complaint about
there being no open document on which to run the script. What
am I missing? For instance, do your instructions really mean
"from the browser select and open the images you want to rename
and run the script on each open image"? I'm confused by your
recipe, but what can you expect from a vegetable? :) |
