Your best bet is to recall and reverse whatever changed on your
system at the time the problem developed. New software or hardware
installed? Windows Update? Any Control Panel settings changed?
Second best is to read Classic Question #5 from the second list at
http://campratty.com/questions.html and follow its suggestions.
Please write back if both of these fail to correct it. We can
explore less likely causes with more invasive cures.

What suddenly changed on your computer?

What are the file and folder permissions? Is the file marked
Read-only because it was copied from a CD? Are you saving the
files with the file extension you think you are using? Have you
set Windows Explorer to show file extensions?

It's a Windows problem more likely than a PSP problem. Reboot
your computer and see if the problem goes away. If it doesn't
uninstall and reinstall PSP 7, or just delete the PSP registry
entries. If you don't understand the registry try this trick
instead http://campratty.com/1faq/faqpages/b4.html#anchor86412
If none of that works, roll back Windows to a System Restore
Point where this doesn't happen.

For some reason my PSP7 has subddenly developed an annoying problem with
saving files.. When I open a file, work on it and then attempt to save
it it I get
'Paint Shop Pro could not overwrite the specified file - Please ensure
you have the neccessary file & directory permissions'
Curiously if I attempt a second save it saves the file okay.
Any ideas as to how to cure this?
