Given so few details, I'd suggest these steps in order:

1. What changed on your computer? Reverse that change. New hardware?
Software installed or updated? Microsoft Update? Altered settings in
any of the Control Panel applets?

2. Clear the PSP 7 registry entries per Classic Question #24 in the
second list at http://campratty.com/questions.html

3. Remove and re-install PSP 7. Get ZapPS from
ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/PaintShopPro/X/. Exit PSP 7, run ZapPS,
identify the product, and check all the options for a complete
removal. Reinstall PSP and its updates to version 7.04.

Please help, I love my PSP7 but it has developed a really weird fault. When
I open a new image and then click on Save As, <F12> or the save as icon
the
program shuts down! I use windows xp.

After you do Fred's steps, if you still have the problem:

What I've found to work on my system for versions9-X.
1. Exit PSP. Make sure the PSP program ends.
1b. Exit all other running programs except security items, and Windows
itself.
2. In Windows search for files like the following:
*.tmp
[Many times these build up from a single crash and the debris trips
more crashes. Windows will tell you which ones you cannot delete.]
3. Empty your desktop recycle bin.
[I noticed PSP crashes more when this has at least one item in it.]
4. Reboot your computer.
[Sometimes Windows needs a reboot.I usually do off and on rather
than "restart".]

The steps above clear up my issues when I do have them, but usually
dumping the desktop trash before opening PSP prevents new issues.

I saw these steps back in the PSP8 Beta group and they have helped me
prevent crashes in 7,8,9, and X. (I don't own XI.)
I do use XP now, had used 95 before then.
