Tube conversion

Forgive if this has been covered before but I searched the messages and it
didn't come up.
Is there a way to convert the PSP 7&8 picture tubes for use in PSP 9?
I tried to just do an install but it didn't work and the page at Corel I
downloaded
them from says they are specifically for older versions but I was hoping
they could be converted somehow.

The only tube converter I'm aware of was for converting PSP5 & 6 tubes
into PSP7-8 version.
That converter is located
http://www.jasc.com/support/customercare/articles/psp8components.asp

You should be able to open the specific older file in PSP via file->Open
and then export as a tube once they've been installed.
Keep in mind that there will be some of the same tubes with the same
names......

For some long ago, I needed to change the default install directory- I
made a new subfolder in the relevant "My PSP files" area.

Providing the specific page you found these problem tubes on might get
some more helpful answers.

Why do they need any converting? PSP should use .tub files just
as well as .PspTube files without any problems. The only time you
need a conversion program is for tubes made with PSP 5, which
used an external .ctl file to store tube control information.
Since version 6 all that stuff is right in the tube file itself.
An extra parameter was added to tube files somewhere around PSP 9
or PSP X but its absence in earlier tubes should not cause any
trouble in later versions of PSP.

What does this mean exactly? What didn't work? In other words
why do you believe something is wrong? As far as I know, the
Corel tubes come in a self-extracting zip file and you can put
the tube files anywhere you like. For PSP to see the presence
of these tubes they have to end up in a folder that is referred
to in File > Preferences > File Locations > Picture Tubes.

As a check, make sure you can find the tube files on your hard
disk using Windows Explorer or Start > Search > For Files Or
Folders in Windows. Once you've found the files, make sure the
folder they are in appears in File Locations, either explicitly
or as a subfolder of a folder you have already included.

I don't think anything needs to be converted. I think your
problem lies elsewhere. However, I can't be specific about what
the problem is since all you've said is "it didn't work" and as
a vegetable I'm limited in my ability to guess.
