Hi there
Could someone please help me to restore me brush settings in the
general brush setting dialog box.
I have tried use "restore aqll default varients" but that still does
not restore all the sliders to there original positions in the brush
palette.

If my memory serves me correctly, in Painter 7 there was an issue whereby
the Restore all Default Variants option did not have a 100% success rate. It
required repeating the operation several times to delete all the c_ (cached
variants).
You could of course manually delete any c_ variants, and if you are working
on the Mac platform, an Automator action could be set up to purge the
respective files from your whole brush library.
