Painter Essentials - just daubs of one color

Painter Essentials - just daubs of one color
Tue, 18 Jul 2006 14:02:34 -050
Hello, I just downloaded the Essentials 3 trial, opened a simple photograph, set

some basic underpainting of desaturate, then cloned, and hit AutoPainting - all

the program does is just spray spots out of my primary color. It doesn't pick
up any of the colors or lines or details or anything of my actual photograph...
any ideas?

For some reason, a cloner brush was not selected. Simply click the
"Clone Color" button in the Colors palette and try again. This will
tell
Painter to use your clone as the color source, not your current color.

I really appreciate the response, however.....

I piddled around with things for about 10 more minutes, and set my brush to size

350, then clicked Auto Paint. An error message came up about not having enough

memory for the operation. Nothing would cancel or close that error message; so

finally had to Control-Alt-Delete

Mind you, this is a pristine Velocity Micro AMD64 machine with 2 GB of ram that

runs everything else with blinding speed and reliability.

Anyway, upon restarting Essentials 3, it said I had zero days left in my trial
and that was the end of that. So I got to try Essentials 3 for about 20 minutes

total before, like many Corel apps, it became unstable, broke, and left me with

yet another bad Corel experience. And I'm sure that reinstalling the trial with

be futile because it will already think I had it for 30 days. Abysmal.

We're sure it does; however, a brush size of 350 is very, very large.
and will not work well with Auto-Painting. You should try a brush size
below 100 and do more brush strokes.

We're sorry that happened. If you want, you can contact Customer Support
and they will help you get the full 30 days of trial.

Customer support 'would not' help me when my painter IX trial decided after
just one day that was all I was going to get. And because of that I could
not try 9.1 nor 9.5!! Which is why I have never bought version IX. I have
bought every version since ver 2. That's what I call customer support - NOT!
Nor is it loyalty to a long term user. And please don't any smart newbie
think I would do better to not be critical (get that 'Dude'!). I was not
critical before then only after many attempts to get a helpful response from
Corel without the slightest desire from Corel to be helpful.
