I downloaded the program, hence no manual... While I can get help and
tutorials from the net, I prefer to read the manual... Is there a good
book on the program or prior release?

Hal,
You should have the Corel Painter X User Guide in HTML format accessible
via the Help menu.
I confirmed that with Corel Customer Service just yesterday.
