I still run Painter 6.1 on XP Pro. Can anyone tell me if it works on Vista?

pretty unlikely. 6.1 was really for Windows Me, I think, it might work, but
why not upgrade to IX.5?

Well, version X is out now, for one :-) But an upgrade isn't in my budget at
the moment.

Related to Wiglaf's question, but I was wondering for any of your Vista
users, can you run in a classic mode to handle any older programs, not just
Painter?

In general, Vista should be able to run programs that XP can run. However,
Painter 6 already has some problems with memory on XP systems.

Some applications might have installation problems because of the new way
user accounts and security work on Vista. Installing as the administrator
may help. Also, old .HLP-based Windows Help documents aren't supported
anymore without an additional viewer download.
