I have an old Painter 4 Mac program and had upgraded to version 6. My
computer crashed and I replaced it. I still have the upgrade serial
number but I cannot find the original version 4 serial number and it
requires both to install it. Since MetaCreations is no longer around and
Corel doesn't want to have anything to do with older versions; does
anyone have any idea how I can solve this? Many companies have your
registration in their computers and you can get help when you lose the
serial number but MetaCreations is long gone.
Any suggestions?

Contact Corel. I believe they carried over registration information for
people who had Metacreations/Fractal Design Painter before Corel bought
Painter.
By the way, I was not able to run Painter 4 on my newer computer,
purchased about 3 years ago, (WinXP Home SP1), though I can run Painter
5, 6, 7, 8, IX, and X on the same computer.
Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion but Corel sent me here. They don't support
"legacy products" in fact hardly anything back more than 2 versions.
I had hoped they would have access to MetaCreations Fractal Designs old
customer base.
Luckily I use Macs which are good about supporting older versions. My
problem is I have my upgrade V.6 and it's serial number. And my version
4 disk. But I can't find the old manual which is where I used to write
serial numbers. Pretty dumb. Next time I write it on the install disk.
Does anyone else have a suggestion?

Would it work to just upgrade again to the latest version?
I use P6 and it's pretty slow and wonky compared to the newer ones.
