What is the PP equivalent of HSV in Gimp? Gimp says "decompose" an
image
to (hue, saturation, value) and apply an unsharp mask to the value
layer. Then "compose" back to hsv. To prevent colour distortion.

thanks for both of your answers--here and in the previous thread on
luminosity. Helps a lot.
In this instance I had learned how to apply an unsharp mask in Gimp and
really like the results using the hsv decompose/compose procedure. I
wanted to duplicate it in PP.
Thanks again.

In PP you can split channels to:
RGB, CMYK, HSB, HSL, YIQ, and LAB.
The good news is that HSB and HSV is the same thing. Value is the Brightness
of the color, that is why they are the same dog with different names.

You can, but you don't need to decompose/compose in PP.
Apply Usharp Mask
Edit /Fade las comand. Select Lightness.
