Crop Presets - inches vs pixels

Crop Presets - inches vs pixels
Mon, 2 Jul 2007 20:51:54 -0400
When using the crop tool I often have need to create a crop to match a 4x6
or 8x10 inch print size. However the presets in the drop down menu are
shown in pixels. I have on occasion seen the drop down expressed in inches
with the typical 4x6, 8x10 inch print sizes I desire. My guess is that
these images I'm working on where the inches show were saved when Corel was
set to the inches default unit under the General Options? I prefer to work
in pixels except for these cropping instances.

Is there a way to force the inches presets in the crop too on demand?

Thank you.

Hi Llace,
I can not answer your question.
However, I was wondering why you would want the crop tool in either
inches or pixels. The area that I want cropped does not usually correspond
to a pre-fixed size in either pixels or inches.
The fixed size dialog gets me the aspect ratio. It was you who pointed
that out to me about a year or two ago.

Hi Phil!

The aspect ratio is exactly what I'm after. Problem is that with the pixel
drop downs it's a conversion problem to find the aspect ratio that matches
8x10 (1.33333). It happens to be 640x480. I guess I could write them all
down... but it's easier to just see them spelled out in inches. Then I drag
them by the corners to the size I need and preserve the aspect ratio.

Change the ruler to inches in "Tools>Options>Document>Ruler"

Thanks Alfred, but as I said in my original post, I want to stay in Pixel
mode except for these instances when I'm cropping. If I just change the
ruler I have to quit the program and restart to see the inches in the crop
tool drop down.
