Hi all...
I am putting together a website, and find that my menu buttons of black
text on a white background are much easier to read than white text on a
white background. Is there something I need to do in PP12 to make the
letters more distinct or is it a visual effect (we are much more used to
seeing writing in black on white)?
Attached are a copy of each.
Thanks for any help you can throw my way!
John
PS: I am using images instead of text cuz I want them in this certain
font which does not seem to be automatically installed on computers.

Hi John,
It is certainly a visual effect for my eyes. I find black on white to be
the easiest to see under all circumstances including road signs. I hate the
signs with a light green lettering against a dark green background.

Hi John,
Here is one suggestion:
(Working on the Black on White example)
Change mode to RGB
Adjust contrast in Contrast Enhancement to get as near to Black and White as
possible.
Change mode to Black and White
Change mode to Grayscale.
To get the opposite:
Image> Transform> Invert
Play about with the contrast controls to get a better result.

Gareth

On second thoughts you might get a better result by changing mode to RGB
then using the Threshold adjustment with the "to White" radio button
checked. Finally change mode back to grayscale.

Yet another thought. Simply adjust the tone curve, with the gamma style
selected.
