When saving an image in a format other than wpg (like for example bmp or
jpg) the solid colors are changed to a variety of hues. I understand
that this is desirable in many cases, but is there a way to turn this
feature off?

I'm not sure what you are experiencing... but just save the file as
either black/white or grayscale.
For example on the Export Bitmap dialogue (File/Save As/Windows Bitmap)
there is the option for 1 bit (B&W - 2 colors) which should do the trick.

Sorry for taking some time to reply, but here is a concrete example of
what I am experiencing. Here is a simple wpg file with 2 colors, that I
created in Presentations:

And here is a complex jpg file that Presentations created when I saved
the above file as jpg:

My question is: How can I make Presentations save files with the exact
colors that they were created?
Grayscale, of course is something quite different that I am not
currently interested in.
Thanks,

The extra colours you see result from the antialiasing that Pres applies.
I see no way to turn off antialiasing.
Just as well. I just saved this from PhotoPaint without antialiasing. I
think you will agree it leaves something to be desired.

Good to have a word to express something I know from experience. But I
really do not understand why Corel has not provided Presentations with
the option to turn off antialiasing. Unless it wants the force users to
prefer WPGs...

When I saved the 10.wpg as gif (with 16 colors) the result was terrible.
I guess I'll have to try another program. I like to make small icons to
use as favicons for the Firefox shortcuts toolbar...
