Patches Ventura 7
Wed, 13 Feb 2008 08:19:39 +010
Dear Colleges,
Were there any patches for Ventura 7 and if so, does anyone have them
somewhere to be downloaded?
I tried Corel Support but they directed me to our Newsgroup, as they
will provide support only on Ventura 8 and 10.
I have 10 too, but for some conversions of (very) old files I have to
use 4.2, 5 and 7. I had to reinstall 7 and it is mostly working fine!
And sometimes I need it to "repair" publication that run foul after
conversion to 10.
Kind regards, JoostJ

My experience with conversion of older versions is that if V10 doesn't get
it quite right I use V8 instead. Sometimes it converts some older images and
wp files a little better. I'm doing this a lot with V3 and forward.

JoostJ --

I did a bit of digging around into this over the past couple days to refresh my
memory. You have the initial V7 release. Corel issued two subsequent releases --
7.1443 (or Rev. B) and 7.1465 (or Rev. C). But these were not issued as patches
because they affected too many files. Instead, you had to contact Corel Customer
Service for a new CD...but based on your initial post, I suspect that's not an
option anymore.

Since you are only using it for the initial import, it it works, you could stick
with 7.1314.

If you end up finding that unsatisfactory, you could look around on eBay for a
copy of V8 (or V7 Rev. C). As Carol points out, V8 does pretty well with legacy
files and is much more stable than V7 ever was.
