| OT: Hardware Diagnosis Software? |

Any hardware gurus out there familiar with any software that will test the
various hardware components on a desktop PC?
One of the ladies in the office is complaining about her PC "running
funky"[??] and problems when she connects her iPod to a USB port.
I've flogged and cleaned the software and there does not appear to be a
problem there, but I'd like to "massage" the hardware a bit.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Maybe a blast of fresh air, a spritz of bug spray and a wash down with B*S*
repellant can cure the "funky" behavior.
I *did* find almost a gig of temp files and for the first time I can
remember, defrag said the drive needed defragging.
Back to the drawing board.

Manufacturers often have a test suite that runs various components
through various tests. Dell is one example. Unfortunately, there are
always some mysterious problems that the test suites don't catch, as for
example a problem I once had with a client's video card that, after some
24 hours of mostly-unbilled testing, turned out to work perfectly up
until Windows SP2 was loaded, after which the screen would go blank at a
certain point in the boot process, even after the latest video driver
was loaded. It was checked out fine by the hardware test, and its
replacement worked fine.

Yea, a 4hp air compressor has cured at of my PC problems.
It's good way to blow out a virus, well a bunny anyway.
Oh, and wiggling the connections to make sure they are connections.
Best of Luck,
