Can't install Ventura 10!

I need some help installing Ventura 10.

I have just purchased a new Lenovo 3000 computer and am trying to install 
ventura 10 from the CD onto it.

The operating system is Windows XP Pro.

I first installed Ventura 7 successsfully.  Then during the installation of 
Ventura 10:
It accepts my key;
It then starts searching for previously installed Ventura versions ( version 
7 is installed);
Before completing this search, it gives a message that "Setup32 has 
encountered a problem and needs to close.  Do you want to inform Microsoft 
.... etc"
It then crashes.

As a result I cannot install Ventura 10!  Can anyone help?

Mike --

That is very unusual (as in, it's the first time I've heard that one and V10 has
been out for awhile). So, that suggests that something in your system
configuration is problematic. Graphics cards are often an issue, so one thing
you might try:

1. Open ControlPanel|Display|Settings|Advanced|Troubleshoot

2. Move the slider to None and uncheck all the other accelerations.

3. Reboot.

4. Try your install.

If it works, then the graphics adapter is the culprit. You can move the slider
back to FUll and reenable the other accelerations.

However, since it will probably cause other instability, I would try finding a
newer (or older) driver. Worst case, if you run into problems and can't find a
stable driver, use the same Troubleshooting settings to check to see if it's the
graphics adapter. If so, then keep notching them back up until you find the
highest setting that doesn't create crashes.

Let us know where you end up -- in case it's something else.
