Perhaps I'm missing something, but wouldn't a nonbreaking space (Ctrl+Space in
Ventura) between them do the trick?

Unlikely. You use Ventura, after all.

Hello
Is there any way to stop automatically force a line break to keep two
"words" on the same line?
I have the expression like "pt. 2346" and I do not want this split at
a
line break. I can fudge it by putting a line break before "pt." but
when
I add something before it then it looks stupid.
What I need is a sort of "keep text together" function.
Any ideas

The first sentence should read:
Is there any way to automatically force a line break to keep two
"words" on the same line?
