Just a quick thought.
It may be that some paragraph is asking for a language you do not have
installed. Or it may be that because there is no Finnish module and VP
is asking for it you will always get this message.
There might be something on the FAQ about this problem, and certainly
there are some discussions on this list about this nagging problem.

I get this warning
"Thesaurus : Initialization failed"
once every time I open Ventura 10 and as soon as I place the cursor into any
text for the first time.
I have installed both English and Finnish, which is set as the default
language.
I understand that there is no Thesaurus included in Ventura for the Finnish
language. And I don't need it.
All the other Finnish Ventura 10 users I have asked do not have this
"problem".
What should I do to get rid of the unnecessary warning?
Thanks in advance for any piece of advice.

This is not a new problem... Word import is the bane of most layout
applications. There are a couple of approaches that might help you out.
The simplest is to delete the Word paragraph tag(s) that you don't want
(e.g. "Normal"). VP will ask for the tag to replace it with (e.g.
"Body
Text"), and that should resolve this issue.
Best,
Neil

Hi Stilman,
Many thanks for the hint - problem solved:
I went through all my paragraph tags to check their language settings and
noticed that there were a few odd paragraph tags imported from word files
(like "Normal"), which call for some languages I have not installed.
I
either deleted these or changed their language to the default one and then
the warning disappeared.
So, this leads to another question: when importing Word files, how do I keep
their styles from getting imported into my Ventura files as paragraph tags?
I don't think I had this problem in earlier Ventura versions, or did I?:-)
best regards

Another option is Faunce's text import utility. It is referenced on the
FAQ I think. It does a good job, but you need to save the MSWord doc as RTF.
