Initial Questions for V10 on Vista: Font Navigator Support + Impositions with Jaws PDF Creator

So far so good on Vista SP1 32-bit .

(1)

Is there a Registry entry or ini file in which to specify which version of
Font Navigator Ventura 10 references? Corel Graphics Suites X3 & X4 are
installed on this system, so FN 5 & 6 are available. In my experience FN5 is

a little flaky on Vista and FN6 is somewhat broken, Corel Tech Suport having
confirmed to me that it does not handle Groups correctly. Nonetheless, I
would like to try getting one of these versions to work with Ventura 10, if
possible.

(2)

I read in the Ventura 10 FAQ (excellent resource!) that the native
Publish-to-PDF function of Ventura 10 does not do impositions. Jaws 4.1 is
working well on my system (highly ironic in that Global Graphics will not
support it under Vista and their new 5.0 which is meant for Vista simply
won't work right for me). Is there a way to print to Jaws from Ventura 10 so
that, say, a booklet, will be correctly impositioned in the PDF and ready
for direct printing to a duplex printer?

Very grateful for help,

I believe Font Navigator is independent of VP, so you just call on FN5
or FN6 and use it. All you need is an icon pointing to it on your
desktop somewhere.

Otherwise, I can't help you with this one at all, since I am in the dark
ages of an earlier version.

If you use the various schemes for impositions in Ventura, you should be
able to print directly to your duplex printer.

In the print dialog the "print style" drop-down should give you a
start
(i.e. booklet is already defined). You can then tweak it and save it as
H-PG's booklet, so that you can always have exactly the imposition you want.

At least that is a start.

I produce imposed items all the time simply using Ghostscript. Install
and print to the Adobe logical PS printer, feed to Ghostscript and away
you go. (XP and Win2K, but can't see any reason why it would differ in
Vista.)

Thanks for replying, Stilman. I have printed many booklet publications from
Ventura 8/W98/Wxp successfully on my own duplex printers. I am still hoping,
for reasons of portability (ease of distribution), to learn if it is
feasible to ultimately have an impositioned PDF from V10 via Jaws.

As an aside, recently I had occasion to try out a Serif product, PagePlus
X2. It irritated me in many ways because it falls so short of Ventura vast
functionality and customizability, but its native Publish-to-PDF engine does
do impositions perfectly.

All good wishes,

Paul: Your suggestion is greatly appreciated. I have downloaded GPL
Ghostscript 8.60 & GSview 4.9 and book marked their respective Documentation

and Help pages online. Vista compatibility is indicated. Much exploration
ahead .

Many thanks,
