You seem to be doing something wrong, though I'm not sure what it is. 12
minutes per page seems awfully slow.
Suggestion... Start at the top of the customer's list and search repeatedly
for that name, adding an index entry as you find it. Then go to the next
item, and so on.
One of the things I liked about V7 and earlier versions was the ability to
view the file as plain text. Once you create an index for a particular item,
you can copy and paste it elsewhere. Can you do this with V8?

(re-posting from the v10 newsgroup....)
Hi Michael
Indeed, there is.
I have a script (which I can also make work for v8 for you) where you can supply
a text file containing a list of names to
Search for along with the Index name to use - both on the same line, separated
by a comma (if commas are in the name/index, then
the line items need to be within quotes. example:
John Smith, "Smith, Mr John"
Mr John Smith, "Smith, Mr John"
Mr Smith, "Smith, Mr John"
Notice ... the Left term / Left side of the comma is the 'Search For' ... while
the Right term / Right side of the comma is the
text that will be used for the index name.
Anyhow, my script is free to download and use. If you need my help, I do charge
for support/consulting. However, I've tried to
make the script as easy to use as I can without you needing my assistance.
You can download the script here (this is for version 8, as you need):
www.shearer.ca/Scripts/Ver8/UltimateWordIndexerV8.exe
You may also need the 'scint80.dll' file - if you don't already have it in your
\windows\system32 folder (check first). If it's
not there, then, take this one:
www.shearer.ca/Scripts/Ver8/scint80.dll
.... and make sure the 'scint80.dll' goes into your \windows\system32 folder.
The 'UltimateWordIndexerV8.exe' program can go
anywhere you like, e.g., on the Desktop, or in your \corel\ventura8\programs\
folder, etc...
Hope this helps.

Good to know. However, I'm sure Michael doesn't have v10, so copying/renaming
'scint100.dll' to '...80.dll' won't be necessary.
Generally, v8 users will have this DLL already installed in their
\windows\system32 folder - unless they did a Custom install
and specifically chose NOT to install the Script Editor.
Certainly good to know, though, that the DLL might be better found in the same
folder as the compiled script (.exe) - and thus I
suppose it might run a little faster, eh?!
Thanks Werner

Hi all
I have Ventura 8 and have designed a book with 300 pages. No I need to index
it, the client has supplied a list of 600 names and places that need to
appear in the index. Is there an easier way to index all these names or do I
have to go through it one at a time!!! Manually I have spent 4 hours
indexing the first 20 pages!!!
Please say YES!!! ;o)

Kind regards

If I understood right, you should use the Corel Ventura AddOn
"IndexConcordance"
I'm not sure if I know the correct way for English version to install:
Try following:
Extras?->AddOns->open Ventura8->Select IndexConcordance->Start
If you cant see this, use after AddOns->New->Select Ventura8.cao->open
HTH
have a good day
