| OLE Objects cause crashing? |
 |

Hi all
I wonder if this issue has been discussed many times before...?
I have been given a word file with pics and graphs etc included, rather than
exporting them and converting them to tiff's and re-importing them into
Ventura 8, I simply copied and pasted (OLE) the object into a frame in
Ventura. After a whole day of working, it comes to closing and going home...
On re-opening the file, all goes well until I try to save... then CRASH!!
Ventura crashes after saving.
Is this caused by the OLE objects and what can I do about correcting the
situation as I am not keen to start all over again!!!

Kind regards

First:
I never use OLE objects.
Second:
There exist a lot of Corel Ventura publications, which crash from time to
time.
Some people say, Corel Ventura crashs while making a save "as" to
same
name. I thought this for some time too, but now I don't believe it more.
In most cases, I found, that such a pub is corrupt and a rebuild will help.
In my opinion _every_ Corel Ventura user should be consider, that a
publication can become corrupt to every time.
That's why I developed MultiSaveAsPro, and I use it for every work, this
allows be to go back for one, two or more steps.
have a good day

I found that using OLE was a problem, so I don't use it, and recommend that
others don't either.
I have used Paste Special without creating a link and had no problems with
the publication or images. They weren't the best resolution, but it was all
I had to work with.

Hello again
After posting the previous message, It seems that one of the OLE objects
could be causing the problem. If I try to edit, delete or move it it crashes
after I go save or save as (another name). I can happily continue building
on my publication going save and save as but as soon as I close the pub,
Ventura crashes. The changes are saved fine but it is a bit worrying... :o)
Any sugestions???

OLE is a rather poorly implemented feature in Windows, so try to avoid
it as much as possible, even if it requires more work. OLE can make
anything unstable, not only Ventura.
