V3 actually runs under the Digital Research graphical OS.
I believe it will work with PostScript printers.

Is anyone currently using V3/DOS with a realtively new printer? If so, which
printer(s) will work with this version?

Not exactly currently, and the printer is about 6 years old, but...
Ventura 3 should work just fine with any postscript printer. I used to be
able to print directly to my HP Laserjet 4MV (and later to my clonescript HP
Laserjet 5000N), but Ventura 3 only knows about LPT1 (it doesn't know about
network printers), and the last time I moved things around here, I think I
moved the printer too far away to hook it up through the parallel port.
But it still prints to file without a problem. My last VP3 job went away two
years ago, but I used to just print to file and then distill to PDF.

For those who've never used Ventura Publisher 3 (or even Ventura Publisher
2)... they totally _clobber_ even the current versions of Word or other word
processors for creating "long", multi-chapter, complex documents. And
this
is software approaching its 20th birthday!
Is it still available?

That's not a problem, Windows can take care of this.
A few years ago, I created a completely Windowsized setup package of
VP 3. A single ZIP with all the files, no floppies needed, you just
run the (modified) setup, reply to the questions and off it goes. In a
matter of seconds, of course, while it used to take half an hour to
install it from floppy disks on an early AT... :-))
