Performance issues in batch process
Wed, 19 Mar 2008 08:02:32 EDT
We are in to financial industry, we have certain batch processes - DayEnd and
MonthEnd - we are having major performance issues, as the company dont maintain
any details on indexing, threading etc., It is very difficult for me to analyse
the situation. I need to know how to reduce HotSpots and also Indexing in DB2 as
i am new to DB2.<br />
<br />
Thanks in advance,<br />

iSeries Navigator has SQL Performance Monitors that can help you tune the
database.<br />

I have tried that, but does not help much - any idea on hotspot removal - I have
a formula which is reading several times, any idea how to reduce it. I also
tried webSphere performance monitors and tuned it there is an improvement of
just 15-20% but i need more.<br />

Thanks<br />

There are a couple of DB2 performance redbooks at:
http://ibm.com/systems/i/software/db2/relredbooks.html

You REALLY need to attend the DB2 for i5/OS SQL Performance Workshop:
http://ibm.com/systems/i/software/db2/db2performance.html

If you need something in the short-term, hiring consultants is probably your
best option - I can give recommendations if you're interested.
