DPM 2007 protecting Exchange 2007 - Transaction Logs
Question

I have been trying out DPM 2007 against my Excahnge 2007 SP1 Server for about 
a week now.
I have not had any issues with the protection process at all, it works very 
well and each night an Express Full runs with success and every 12 hours an 
incremental sync occurs with success also.  I have, of course chosen to run 
the ESEUtil integrity check each time the Express Full runs and event logs in 
DPM and on the Server itself all show success for this check.

The problem:
My transaction logs are not being deleted from the Excahnge 2007 Server.
I have read that the ESEUtil check merely runs the /k switch, this does not 
flush transaction logs.  What is missing here?  I could understand why if I 
was to receive errors, but everything 'appears' to be running 
smootly...except this.

Any Ideas?

This is not a CCR
This is a Test Lab
Log Files Generated by Exchange 2007 SP1 Serevr daily ~12-15/day
There are no errors or warning of any kind on either the protected server or 
the DPM during the backup/sync period.
Weird -  Looking at the protected server this morning i noticed that logs 
for April 5,6 and 7 are gone for one storage group where they were there 
yesterday. For the other storage group i am seeing logs for April 9, 10 and 
today, where yesterday it had logs back to the 5th.  so it has infact cleared 
some of the logs but why only for some days on one SG and other days on the 
next SG?  and why now after 4 days?

Hi Tony,

  Please put your comments on the following.

  1. Is it a CCR setup?
  2. Is it a production/test setup?
  3. What kind of load (in terms of logs generation per day)?
  4. Did you get a chance to look at the Application Event logs on the 
protected exchange server? Do you see any interesting events (look for 
events generated while DPM backup was in progress)?
