| Exchange 2003 LOG errors |
 |
Fri, 11 Apr 2008 10:56:05 -070 |
Just installed DPM 2007, I had been running the BETA for over a year. I have
all my servers backing up except Exchange 2003. Here is the details of the
error in the job monitor:
The replica of Storage group First Storage Group on ex4.ksoma.hsc.usc.edu is
inconsistent with the protected data source. All protection activities for
data source will fail until the replica is synchronized with consistency
check. You can recover data from existing recovery points, but new recovery
points cannot be created until the replica is consistent (ID 3106)
Now the recommended action is to copy the esutil.exe and ese.dll to
C:\Program Files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\bin
I have done this, and I have used those two files either the live ones in
the Exchange BIN directory, I have also copied those two files from the
install CD, and also the files from the install CD with service pack 2.
None of these solutions solved anything. Can someone please help me and
tell me what I need to do to get the DPM back to proteting my Exchange server.
Thank you in advance.

Here is the alert details entry:
Affected area: First Storage Group
Occurred since: 4/9/2008 7:02:53 PM
Description: The replica of Storage group First Storage Group on
ex4.ksoma.hsc.usc.edu is inconsistent with the protected data source. All
protection activities for data source will fail until the replica is
synchronized with consistency check. You can recover data from existing
recovery points, but new recovery points cannot be created until the replica
is consistent (ID 3106)
Data consistency verification check failed for LOGS of Storage group First
Storage Group on ex4.ksoma.hsc.usc.edu. (ID 30146 Details: Unknown error
(0xfffffc01) (0xFFFFFC01))
Recommended action:
Either the database files are corrupt or the proper versions of the
following files are missing.
If you have recently upgraded your Exchange server, please copy them from
that server to DPM server.
eseutil.exe
ese.dll
Please contact the administrator for Exchange server, and verify the issue.
You can recover the last known good backup to address the corrupted state.
Synchronize with consistency check.
Run a synchronization job with consistency check...
Resolution:

*I think I have read a post of something simular before but I could not find
it so I apoligize for a double post here. Also please note I did change out
the two files as stated with no sucess. When I run the consistency check, it
does run for a few hours, collecting all the data, it seems to fail when it
runs the LOG portion of the consistency check...I think.

fffffc01 is Jet_errInvalidPath, otherwise known as -1023. From
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/244525/en-us, the files required to run
eseutil on another computer are Eseutil.exe, Ese.dll, Jcb.dll, Exosal.dll,
and Exchmem.dll . You might want to try copying all of them if you
believe the path to the esutil files isn't working. Also verify the log and
database paths for the copy to be verified.

Hi Andy,
Please provide details about the OS running on the DPM and protected
Exchange Server.
Are they both 32/64 bit?
Thanks,
