| Replica Creation Problem |

I have a DPM server protecting two others offsite. One of the machines is
successfully protected and the other has a DPM agent installed (successfully
installed with the DPM console) but I am unable to create a replica of the
SQL databases. No data is transferred.
I have checked the firewall settings on both machines, and they are allowing
DPM traffic. The machine is accessible via the VPN.
Has anyone experienced anything similar (and might be able to offer
assistance)?

Replica creation has never succeeded. There is no data to restore in the
Recovery container. However, the protection group has been successfully
created, and DPM appears to attempt to protect the data.
I get errors on the Replica: "Replica is inconsistent" and each time I
run a
synchronization job with consistency check the job fails with the following
error:
Affected area: SERVERNAME\sqlDatabaseName
Occurred since: 4/15/2008 12:17:03 PM
Description: The replica of SQL Server 2005 database
SERVERNAME\sqlDatabaseName on servername is inconsistent with the protected
data source. All protection activities for data source will fail until the
replica is synchronized with consistency check. You can recover data from
existing recovery points, but new recovery points cannot be created until the
replica is consistent (ID 3106)
The protection agent on servername was temporarily unable to respond
because it was in an unexpected state. (ID 60 Details: Internal error code:
0x809909B0)
Recommended action: Retry the operation.
Thank you!

I was able to successfully create the protection group on the server. DPM
appears to attempt to replicate the data, but fails with the error that I
have included below. Additionally there is no data to restore, which tells
me that the initial replication failed:
Affected area: SERVERNAME\database
Occurred since: 4/15/2008 12:17:03 PM
Description: The replica of SQL Server 2005 database SERVERNAME\database on
servername is inconsistent with the protected data source. All protection
activities for data source will fail until the replica is synchronized with
consistency check. You can recover data from existing recovery points, but
new recovery points cannot be created until the replica is consistent (ID
3106)
The protection agent on servername was temporarily unable to respond
because it was in an unexpected state. (ID 60 Details: Internal error code:

Recommended action: Retry the operation.

What does replication creation fail with? Were you able to create protection
group successfully? Is this the problem with Replica Creation job? If so,
please post the details of the error.
