Wal-Mart takes on iTunes

Wal-Mart takes on iTunes

The BBC is reporting that Wal-Mart has opened an online movie and TV show
download store, offering more than 3,000 downloads to U.S. customers. The
downloads can be views on PCs or converted for digital players that run Windows
Media Player (which counts out Apple iTunes). The article says Wal-Mart already
accounts for more than 40% of all U.S. DVD sales (which surprises me...) and so
major studios are interested in working directly with the company (another
advantage over Apple).
