Starbucks to launch music label

Starbucks to launch music label

If you have heard (and enjoyed) the music compilation CDs Starbucks plays in the
background while you're sipping your caramel vanilla latte, you'll be pleased to
know that Starbucks has decided to go into the music business and will be
launching its own label, Hear Music, by the end of this year.

Here's the story from Seattlepi.com today:

I have a vague feeling that you can already buy it here (the music that is, not
through their label)

And I have an explicit feeling that I don't want Dunkin' Donutz launchin no
Munchin' to the Melodiez label.

This is no big shock. I don't think Starbucks did so well with DVDs (I remember
that Akeelah and the Bee was no great succes for them. Pity they couldn't
sponsor something like Live and Become . Come to think of it, would you all mind
pestering Menemsha Films on that topic?)

I've been given a few of the Starbucks CDs; they're fine.

I'm usually in and out of Starbucks. All those people with their Macs make me
nervous.

The only coffee shops we have on campus (or near) are gloria jeans, coffeeHQ and
mama dukes (second two are small chains in monash uni campus'...)

And you're doing everybody a favor by giving your money to local folks when they
do right.

I hate to beam all of my money to the mother ship.
