HI,
I'm in australia, and am trying to develope a simple app for a friend who wants
to extract hist listing out of ebay and into his own database, and eventually
straight into his accounting software. The language I want to use is php, though
if neccessary I can do it in java also.
How do I go about doing this? Do I need to sign any paper documents (as
suggested on the join page)?
Your help is much appreciated.

Hi chaotic_kelly, (great handle, BTW) :)
The eBay Australia marketplace is supported via eBay Web Services. You can begin
development in the sandbox and production with 10K a month by going through
self-certification
online, without signing a paper license.
At the time your application goes through
Standard Application
Certification for eBay.com.au, list all of the eBay sites your application
will be accessing. You may be asked to sign an additional paper API License
governing your interactions with the individual international sites that your
application will interact with. This will depend on your call volume, as well as
the functionality you build.
To get started, check out our eBay SDK
for Java, the PHP Accelerator
Toolkit and a few Java and
PHP5 scripts developers have made available in our codebase. They might be
a helpful starting point.
Good luck!
Delyn
