| Huge redesign for Windows Marketplace |
 |
Mon, 28 Aug 2006 13:43:13 +000 |
Microsoft went live this morning with a dramatic new redesign and enhancement of
Windows Marketplace. Now ESD (Electronic Software Distribution) enables users to
create and use a "digital locker" to safely and securely purchase and
download software, as well as track their purchasing history and store software
license info.
Check it out today by going to http://www.windowsmarketplace.com. The new design
is easy to navigate and includes a downloadable software catalog of more than
60,000 titles--including games, mobile downlads, security tools, music &
video, and IE add-ons. The site also includes more than 150,000 hardware and
software products that work with Windows.

So it looks like the Windows Marketplace "forums" have vanished? I
sure couldn't find them...

Good catch! I wonder if they will become part of http://boards.live.com/ maybe
http://boards.live.com/MarketPlace
The link in the help section points to here:
http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/content.aspx?ctId=375
In the past I thought the were sponsored by WUGNET:
http://forums.wugnet.com/menu.html
I love the Windows Vista Soda in background of the video as well...

A lot of Windows Marketplaces moderators (me, for instance) came from WUGNET,
but Microsoft actually owned the forum. Jake Luddington recruited me and other
WUGNET sysops, but I think he's left Microsoft for some startup. In fact, it
looks like lots of people are leaving Microsoft in droves (well, probably
Hummers or Beamers or Segways).

Hi Dana,
Yes, there seems no way of finding the forums. It was very hard to find them in
the old interface.
I have a bookmark to them, but there are very few posts in the sections I
manage.
Kind regards
Hans
