The "widgetization" of the Web

The "widgetization" of the Web

The Wall Street Journal has an article about *gadgets* this morning (the use of
the word "widgets" makes me cringe), detailing how the marketers of
the movie "Freedom Writers" (with Hilary Swank) are hoping others will
want to include their promo content on their own sites. Here's the link:

The writer talks aboutYahoo and Google, and mentions Microsoft toward the end of
the article with references to "Microsoft's new operating system" (no
name given) and a "widget" for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Why didn't Windows Live make it into the mix here? Seems to me that they missed
the center of the gadgetry universe. :)

I don't subscribe to The WSJ, so I don't know what we are talking about,
but...

Just what IS Windows Live? I've never seen FlightSim, but I have a pretty
good idea it's an active simulation in which the "player" is a pilot.

Different hardware from the golf games, but along the same llines.

What is Windows Live? It makes me think of Heinz 57 - a brand name that
describes eleventyseven different things I have never met and likely don't
want to.
