| Encarta 2008 won't run once Streets and Trips 2008 is installed |

I have three different computers - an HP Pavilion dv9233cl running Vista
Ultimate, a Dell Latitude D810 running Vista Ultimate, and an HP Pavilion
dv2413 running Vista Home Premium. All three are fresh loads. When I load
Encarta 2008 it operates just fine. But when I subsequently install Streets
and Trips 2008 Encarta 2008 can no longer start. It dies immediately after
the splash screen appears. This problem is reproducible - it happened on all
three of the machines I described above.

I hadn't noticed this until I posted this message - but the lhcom02W.dll item
was the problem. A search led me to

which described an interaction with Dragon Naturally Speaking and a
procedure to remove a registry key. You have to delete the registry value
"ScanSoft RealSpeak v2 Standard" from the stry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Voice\TextToSpeech\Engine. Doing that solved the
problem.
