| Another DTS Production Question |

This is an offshoot of another DTS tread, but I did not want to hi-jack that, so
I’m posting a new one.
I’m about to try my first DTS Audio from PP2. I have a 25 track 24-bit, 48KHz
Project in Audition2 and will Export for use with the SurCode CODECs (one for
5.1 and one for DTS). These will eventually go into Encore2 as Audio Tracks 2
& 3 to be selected by Menu. Audio Track 1 will be the stereo AC3 from
Premiere.
My question is what is the best Export setting from Audition2 to Premiere. I can
Export as 6 discrete WAV files, or as a WMA. I’m thinking that the 6 discrete
files would be the better, as I can then mix them via the Audio Mixer (though
the Surround aspect will have been taken care of in Audition2) to the 5.1
Master. Is there a better way? Am I asking for trouble, or possibly losing
something with either of these?
I’m also posting this here, upon suggestion, but if the mods feel that it is
better suited elsewhere, I do not have a problem with that. I contemplated
Production Studio forum, but think that most of the work will be between
Audition2 & Encore2, posted here.
Thanks,

Bill, just here will be fine for this post IMHO. Mods can feel free to disagree,
but I don;t see why anyone would.
I would export out from your mix environment as 6 mono WAV files.
WMA is usually data reduced (I cannot remember if AA will export as WMA-Pro
Lossless, but this would need to be converted to WAV for SurCode anyway) so do
not use this.
Main reason for exporting as 6 WAV files is so that all encoded mixes are
identical in length. You feed the 24/48 WAV files into SurCode DTS-DVD, and the
same 6 files into PPro - on 6 mono audio tracks with each track routed to the
correct hardware output on a 5.1 master track in PPro, and you will be able to
use the SurCode Dolby Digital Encoder that is a part of PPro.

Neil,
That was exactly what I needed. I am waiting for the SurCode DTS via US Mail,
and should have it today. The price has actually fallen a few $ to US$249. And,
to think, I almost sprung for full-price a few months ago. Had not checked their
Web site, until the previous DTS thread and I found their "sale." This
is NOT how things usually work for me.
I appreciate your taking time to set me straight on this. Will report how the
Project goes for anyone's future references, or maybe some other questions.
Thank you,
