5.1 ac3 surround test file plays the rear channels in
stereo?

Having a 5.1 ac3 test audio track in my project. Having an Encore CS3 project,
with a test audio track that has a female voice saying "Front Left",
"Front Center", "Front right", "Rear Left",
"Rear Right", which should come out from their corresponding channels
in 5.1. I have burned the project to a DVD and testing it in my DVD player with
5.1 surround system.

The front channels ones are played correctly in my speakers, coming from their
corresponding speakers, but the "Rear left", "Rear right"
sound channels come both at the same time from the Rear Left and Rear Right
speakers. In a stereo kind of fashion. Why is this happening?

Encore does not touch 5.1 AC3 files, but passes them through to the DVD as they
were encoded.

Jbowden, thank you for your answer. Is there any samples how this could be
tested? (anyone? jbowden?) A proof tested ac3 5.1 surround test file, that would
be similar to this test file. So that it would give a test for all the channels
/ speaker one at a time. And maybe even with the subwoofer channel as well to
complete the 5.1 channels? A one that someone has used in their Encore project
and burned the project successfully with this file, proving this " Encore
does not touch 5.1 AC3 files, but passes them through to the DVD as they were
encoded. "? Because right now I really can't prove this to a client for
example?

You can prove this to your client by importing the AC3 file and checking the
transcoding status in the project panel. If the file reads "Do Not
Transcode", then Encore isn't touching the file.
