The Find function is not working for one of my database fields... I
don't even understand how this is possible. When I search the field,
absolutely no records come up. The field is a text drop-down box, but

Most often this happens when the data entered in the field (through
import or Replace or manual entry in legacy data) is different from the
values in the value list used for the drop-down.
So the user is looking for "department" and the actual data is
"dept."
Or something similar.
Double-check your value list.

I've tried both typing in a value, and selecting the exact value from
the drop-down list. It's not a typing error--but I'm told "No records

Is it a related field you are searching on? If so what is the relationship?
Is the field indexed?
Are there other criteria or just this one field you are searching on?
Is the field defined in field definitions as a text field or a number field?
You can test what is being searched on by temporarily adding a second
copy of the field onto your layout and format it as a regular text
field. Go into find mode, click the item you are searching on from the
value list and then see what the value is in the plain text version of
the field.
