Running XP and Firefox version 2.0.0.12
The strangest thing. When I am in Firefox and then I go another program,
when I return to firefox I get a "Unable to connect" message.
This morning I was looking up recipes. I would find one I like and then
copy it from Firefox and paste it on a WordPad document and then go back to
Firefox and it would happen. I have to close all instances of Firefox and
reopen it to make it work.
Any suggestions would be appreciated,
Dave H.

Wow, my first born is on his way to you.
I changed the "Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Network ->
Connection
Settings" to "direct connection to the Internet" rather than the
default
setting of "Auto-detect proxy settings for this network" and it works.
Granted I have only tried a couple of times but I believe that it made the
difference. I am really amazed that others have not found this to be a bug.
I do thank you for the link,
Dave H.

na, Dave.... that is hardly a bug. Well - yes, it is, as it is a Windows
setting and all things Windows are usually bugs *lol*. The other
possibilities for that setting are for people on dial-ups who only want
the system to "connect" when they are ready for it. Lots of those gals
'n' guys write eMails (for example) in off-line batches, then go online
and send the whole batch in one quick connection!
anyway - glad you found the solution.
