How do I change default applications in download manager?(mac)
Tue, 15 Apr 2008 11:39:07 -070
Hi. Using 2.0.0.13 and looking to update the apps that Firefox wants
to open downloaded files with.
Example

Download a PDF and the dialogue box opens saying 'open with Adobe
Reader 5.0 (default)'

Well, I have no adobe reader 5.0 but wish to assign Adobe Reader 8.0
to open these files. However, when I use the preferences to
access manage file types, it only shows a few file types and what to
open them with, and while I can change the existing ones, I cant
access the entire list or add any new ones. In the old Mozilla days,
one could see all the plugins and manage them from the preferences..
can you please advise how to do this in Firefox?

Thanks

There will not be a listing there until you make one (one is needed)
For example, there should be one for pdf files because you have tried to
open one, so the type is there, you can change it to Adobe Reader 8.0

Other types will be added if and when you come accross a file type for
which there is no setting.

Plugins are not listed here. If a file type ends up here, there was no

Ok Thanks.. Now, I have deleted all stuffit products from my HD and
now wish to tell Firefox to stop trying to unstuff downloaded files
with stuffit (default) and instead have all files unzipped with the
OSX app BOMArchiver instead. How can I do this please? There is
nothing related in the 'manage files' section in prefs.. Where is this
information stored?
Thanks
