I have updates Firefox to 2.0.0.13/GB but due to an error when updating
since then every time I open Firefox it takes time and then only an error
message states script error - stop or continue. The only way I can access
Firefox is to stop the script. Then eventually Firefox opens.

What happens if you select the 'continue' button?
Can you possibly find the script that timed out, in Tools -> Error
Console, perhaps?

When I press "continue" after a short delau the same error box appears
to
either stop or continue.
I have checked the error console as you suggested and under the error
section it reports:
"uncaught exception:Permission denied to call method. to String"
