The last time I had problems with map display it was due to my
image display settings.  I can't seem to get to the same settings
in the most recent version, but as I recall I had images set to
load only if they were sourced by the same domain as the HTML page.

If you look in the Content tab of the FF options you should have
the check box "Load images automatically" and an
"Exceptions..."
button next to it.  See if you have any sites blocked from providing
images.
