I heard a story on NPR this morning about the launch of the Wii (on the 14th)
and PS3 (on the 17th)...the story included spokespeople from both camps. The
most interesting moment for me was the audio from NPR's tech producer first try
of the Wii...she was playing a tennis game and didn't really understand how they
were telling her to use the remote/paddle (the Wii controller is all about
motion, so you move the controller as you would swing a raquet, when you're
playing tennis). After one or two tries, she caught on. The fun and excitement
in her voice was really clear--and made me want to try it! Nintendo should hang
on to that audio clip--it's a great marketing tool, hearing someone have a blast
with your new system. :)
Here are a couple of links to other stories in the news about the launches:
CNN Money: http://money.cnn.com/2006/11/09/commentary/column_gaming/index.htm
GameDaily: http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=14397
Are you interested in trying either the Wii or the PS3?

Yes, I was just reading about that! Here's a review of Gears of War on MSNBC:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15644342/
Here's the summary paragraph--this reviewer loves it:
"Hands down, 'Gears of War' is the best-looking game for the Xbox 360 thus
far--and it effortlessly matches anything seen on the PlayStation 3, due out
Nov. 17. The ruined paradise of the human world and the nightmarish Locust are
breathtakingly detailed."

Everyone seems to love it, except EA - but then they are are competing
publisher...
...but if they release a Crysis beta I will let them off.
